Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Can I use my bathroom at all during the renovation?

During your renovation, you won’t be able to use your bathroom. If it’s your only bathroom, or if you’re renovating all of your bathrooms at the same time, we recommend moving out of the house for 3-4 weeks until the project is complete. To help with this, we’ve negotiated great rates with local hotels. Ask your sales rep if you’re interested!

How long does it take to complete a full bathroom renovation?

A typical 3-piece bathroom will take about 3 weeks to complete from start to finish. A half bathroom can take about 1-2 weeks to complete, and a large 4 or 5 piece bathroom will likely take 4 weeks to complete.

Do I need permits?

Probably not. You will only need permits if you are moving walls or drain lines. If you are just replacing fixtures and tiles, permits are not necessary.

Do we have to leave our property during the renovation?

No. You don’t need to leave your property during your renovation. Although, if the bathroom that you’re renovating is your only bathroom, you might be more comfortable elsewhere.

If there is a leak, mold, or any other minor damage in the bathroom, do we have to get it fixed before we start the renovation?

We can fix these issues during your renovation, so there’s no need to fix them beforehand. Our team is well equipped to handle mold, plumbing leaks, rotten studs or subfloors, and any other problem that you might face.

When should I start the process?

At least a month before the start date. It can take several weeks to ship certain products – particularly tiles, vanities, and glass. For this reason, it’s best to start planning at least 1 month in advance.

Do I need to personally buy all the materials?

Nope. We have an extensive material catalogue and a great interior design team that can help you make decisions. Our team will purchase and deliver all of the materials to your home when they’re needed.

Does someone come in for an inspection?

One of our project managers will visit your home to verify the details of your project and take final measurements before ordering materials. This typically takes place after your first design consultation.

Is the $1000 deposit before the design stage refundable?

The $1000 deposit is meant to be a commitment to working with us. In order to give you the best possible service, we need to be confident that we’ll be working together. For that reason, the deposit is not refundable.

Can I get custom materials done through you?

Yes. We can get custom glass or millwork made to order for projects that require them. Generally, we tend to avoid these details as they can draw out the length of the project and increase the cost substantially.

At what point do I have to pay and how much?

Once we confirm what materials will be installed, we charge the full cost of the items. At the start of the project, we will charge 50% of the total labour cost. We invoice for 4 milestones throughout the project.

Do I get to see/feel the materials in person?

Yes. Our project manager can bring samples to you during the site inspection, before the project starts. Alternatively, you’re welcome to visit our suppliers’ showrooms.

Are there any costs for permits?

The cost of permits depends on your scope of work. The best place to get this information is on your city’s website.

Do I need to test for asbestos?

If your house or condo was built before 1990, we will need to test for asbestos to be safe. Asbestos is a very harmful substance and can cause serious health problems if not dealt with properly.

The cost to test for asbestos is $150 + $75 per sample. Most bathrooms will need 2 or 3 samples to be sure that they are clear of asbestos.

If the bathroom does contain asbestos, a licensed environmental team will be hired to complete the demolition. During this time, you will need to be out of your home for a few days while they complete demolition, and test and treat the air. Once this is complete, the renovation continues as usual.

How much does a custom vanity cost?

Custom vanities and cabinets can range from $900-4000 depending on the size and the style.

A quartz countertop normally runs between $500-1200 depending on size, thickness, and the type of stone.

If you want us to make a design for your vanity and cabinet, we will also need to charge a design fee to create the CAD drawings. This cost is $80/hr. Otherwise, we can find something that you like online and mimic the design for your space.
